Abraham Oyeadier

Abraham, Who is your hero?

I chose my mom as my hero because she thought me how to maneuver and trample upon life’s adversities. From her perspective, there’s nothing more important than being able to respire again after a man’s body becomes lifeless in slumber.

How has being a basketball player changed your life?

Basketball has been a blessing in disguise to me. It really portrayed a different outlook of life to me, its basically the sport I cherished most.

Young people often times look up to players like you for advice and encouragement. What advice can you share with kids about being a great basketball player and being a great human being?

Staying positive, having good work ethics, and being able to embrace constructive criticisms and making adjustments in accordance, will facilitate your growth as a hooper and a person as a whole.

What do you do to ensure your mental health is as strong as your physical health?

Just like I hinted above, seeing positivity in negative situations is what keeps me rolling. Bad days and mistakes are inevitable as a human so I embrace or admit my mistakes then I strategize on how to get better. On the physical aspect, I regularly exercise, stretch and have balanced meals. As a hooper your mental and physical health must be your ultimate priority.

Is there a coach or mentor that has positively impacted your life?

My dad is my mentor, he nurtured and inspired me to be the kind of man I am now. Though he never indulge in any sporting activities, he supported and constantly encouraged me to go beyond and beat the odds in my sporting activities. Having someone who believes in my dreams just as I do really meant a lot. Through him I developed this quote: “The inability to acknowledge my worth doesn’t render me valueless or unworthy of greatness”.
