Liv Harness

Liv, Who is your hero?

Tatiana Harness. She is the person who got me into basketball. She has been there for me through good and bad. She is the biggest reason I am where I am. She pushes me to be a better person in life and basketball.

How has being a basketball player changed your life?

It has given me so many opportunities in life especially social media.

What advice can you share with kids about being a great basketball player and being a great human being?

You have 86,400 seconds in a day. Make sure you spend those seconds wisely in life and in basketball.

What do you do to ensure your mental health is as strong as your physical health?

This is so important to me. With all the things I juggle, being an athlete, student, and influencer, I try and find at least 30 minutes a day of downtime where I can just read a book, play a board game, or find something new to do. That Is how I make sure I find time to strengthen my mental health.

Who in your life brings you love and encouragement?

I am very grateful for my team that is around me. They have all helped me in different ways get to where I am at today. My team includes, my dad, mom, sister, basketball trainer, my best friend and her family. Lastly, the people I have made connections with through social media over the years.

How old are you and what is the biggest lesson you have learned in your life?

I am 11 and I’m in the class of 2029. One big lesson I have learned, the bigger my name gets the more people want to see me fail. I have learned to deal with that over time by ignoring it.

When life gets hard, how do you overcome the challenges you face?

I think of advice my team has given to me and I apply it to that situation.

What do you wish adults would understand about young people today?

With social media, not everything is as perfect as it seems. In fact, with a large social media following you can get a lot of hate and it can bring on a lot of stress.

Liv. what keeps you waking up every morning and pursing this life?

My team around me pushes me to wake up every morning and grind. I love the life I am pursuing and my team makes it more enjoyable.

What are some of your biggest dreams?

To be the first female player in the NBA. Another one is to be an even bigger social media influencer.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Ignore everything negative. Focus on being the best you can be in life and basketball.

What does self love mean to you?

Self love means a lot to me. It gives me something to think about other than basketball, social media and school. I am able to explore something new within myself and maybe even find something new that I like.
